Pack 175 Dues for the 2012-2013 scouting year:
Tiger Den $65
Wolf and bear den $85
Webelos $100

Dues include: pack shirt, registration with BSA, subscription to Boys life magazine, all den supplies, and all awards.  Dues are offset by fund raising, as boys are generously rewarded for the efforts in popcorn and candy sales.

Popcorn sales are done via 'take home' orders or 'show and sell.'

Take home orders - boys bring the order sheet home and sell to friends, family, etc.  30% of the total sale will go into your scouts account to offset the cost of dues.

Show and sell - boys set up in front of the grocery stores and sell to the public.  Boys are rewarded for this based on a formula that recognizes effort... we break it down into a 'per hour' credit and multiply it by the # of hours the boys worked.  Last year it was close to $8 per hour.  Nearly half of our boys earned enough to pay their dues; the average credit last year was $85, enough to cover dues in all dens except Webelos.

So why are the dues different?  Older boys use bigger supplies that are costlier, and earn more awards that are also more expensive.  The old scouts are also a bit more adept at sales and tend to have more success with fund raising.
